About the Award
The President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards (PTSEA) constitute the Federal Government’s premier national recognition programme designed to identify, recognise and reward outstanding teachers, school administrators and schools that demonstrate exceptional professionalism, innovation, leadership, integrity and measurable contributions to improved teaching, learning and educational outcomes.

Implemented as an integral component of the annual World Teachers’ Day (WTD) programme, the Awards provide a national platform for recognising exemplary performance and celebrating individuals and institutions whose outstanding contributions advance the quality and delivery of education in Nigeria.
Through the PTSEA, the Federal Government promotes merit, transparency, fairness, accountability, innovation and excellence; encourages best practices and healthy competition; strengthens teacher motivation and professional pride; and inspires continuous improvement in teaching, school leadership and educational service delivery across the Federation.
Together, the World Teachers’ Day Celebration and the PTSEA constitute an integrated national platform for celebrating the invaluable contributions of teachers, recognising and rewarding excellence in education, strengthening stakeholder commitment to the teaching profession, and advancing national education priorities.

School Administrators
Outstanding head teachers and principals recognised for excellence in leadership and school administration.
Schools
Outstanding schools recognised for excellence in educational service delivery and institutional performance.
How the Award Works
A controlled national process from nomination to publication.

Nomination
State Ministries of Education and designated Federal Unity College Zonal Coordinators submit one nominee per applicable award category.

Review
Nominations and supporting evidence are evaluated against approved criteria through a structured and transparent review process.

Announcement
Approved winners are announced at the World Teachers’ Day Celebration and published on the PTSEA portal.
