About PTSEA
What is PTSEA?
The President's Teachers and Schools Excellence Award is a Federal Ministry of Education programme that recognises outstanding teachers, school administrators, and schools across Nigeria.
Which award categories are covered?
The programme provides recognition pathways for classroom teachers, school administrators, and schools. The categories available to a nominee depend on the current award cycle, school ownership, and education level.
Which schools are covered?
Eligible institutions may include public schools, approved private schools, and Federal Unity Colleges, subject to the categories and rules published for the current award cycle.
Nominations and Eligibility
Who may submit nominations?
Only authorised State and Zonal Coordinators may submit nominations during an open award cycle. State Coordinators manage eligible institutions within their states, while Zonal Coordinators manage Federal Unity College categories within their assigned geopolitical zones.
Can a teacher, administrator, or school apply directly?
No. PTSEA uses a controlled nomination process. Eligible candidates and schools are registered and nominated by the authorised coordinator for the applicable scope.
When can nominations be submitted?
Nominations can be submitted only while the nomination window for the active award cycle is open. Current dates and milestones are published on the PTSEA home page and may vary by cycle.
Can one nominee enter several award categories?
A nominee may be submitted for a maximum of one award category in an award cycle. Coordinators must also submit no more than one nominee for each applicable award category.
What information and evidence are required?
Requirements vary by category but may include personal and service records, school information, qualifications, professional development, achievements, supporting documents, and category-specific evidence. All information must be accurate and complete.
Can a submitted nomination be changed?
Draft information can be corrected while editing remains available. Once a nomination enters formal review, changes may be restricted to protect the integrity of the process. Contact the appropriate coordinator or PTSEA Secretariat if a material correction is required.
Review and Results
How are nominations assessed?
Eligible nominations undergo evidence-based national review against approved category-specific criteria. Scores are moderated for consistency, exceptional variances may be examined, and final recommendations require formal authorisation.
Are reviewers independent of nominators?
Review and nomination responsibilities are separated through role-based access. Designated reviewers assess only nominations assigned to them, while moderation and authorisation provide additional oversight.
How will coordinators know whether their nominees won?
After results are formally authorised and published, State and Zonal Coordinators can view final outcomes for nominees within their assigned scope on the Results dashboard.
When do results become official?
A result is official only after review, moderation, and formal national authorisation have been completed and the outcome has been published by PTSEA.
Where are winners published?
Authorised winners are listed on the public Winners page by award year and category. Unpublished working scores or recommendations are not official results.
Certificates, Privacy and Support
How can I verify a PTSEA certificate?
Open the public Verify page and enter the verification code printed on the certificate, or scan its QR code. A valid result displays the matching authorised award record.
What should I do if a certificate does not verify?
Check that the verification code was entered correctly. If it still does not verify, use the Contact page and provide the certificate code and relevant award details to the PTSEA Secretariat.
How is personal information protected?
Access to nomination data is role-controlled and limited to authorised programme functions. Public disclosure is restricted to approved award information. Further details are available in the PTSEA Privacy Notice.
Where can I get technical or programme support?
Use the public Contact page for programme, nomination, verification, technical, media, partnership, or sponsorship enquiries. Select the relevant enquiry type so the message can be directed appropriately.
Still need assistance?
Send your question to the PTSEA Secretariat and select the most relevant enquiry type.
